Abstract—This study explores the cultivation of positive attitudes toward marriage and romance among college students from the perspective of positive psychological qualities. Through an empirical survey of universities in Zhejiang Province, it examines the current status and characteristics of college students' attitudes toward marriage and romance and analyzes the challenges faced by marriage and romance education in higher education institutions, along with their underlying causes. The findings reveal that contemporary college students' attitudes toward marriage and romance exhibit distinct characteristics of "emotionality, autonomy, and spiritualization"; however, existing marriage and family-related cultural activities in universities suffer from issues such as superficial content, monotonous formats, and low participation rates. The study proposes a theoretical framework based on the six factors of positive psychological qualities (wisdom, courage, kindness, justice, temperance, and transcendence). Based on this framework, it outlines a "five-in-one" system for fostering positive attitudes toward marriage and romance—with a focus on higher education, grounded in family education, enriched by sociocultural influences, supplemented by online education, and centered on self-education—as well as a comprehensive development pathway based on the six dimensions of positive psychological qualities. This study aims to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for universities to optimize their marriage and dating education systems and enhance the effectiveness of student development, thereby promoting the healthy physical and mental development of college students and high-quality demographic development.
