A Review of Interventions to Support the Development of Social Cognition in Children with Autism
Quan Zhou
Nanfang College of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China
Abstract
—Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is prevalent in the child population, and is a serious lifelong disease. Social cognition is the main impairment of this group of individuals and this deficit appears very early on in autistic children. To deal with this, tremendous improvements have been made in the treatment of autistic children in recent years, particularly with respect to psychological interventions. The paper analysed the effectiveness of the
Transporters, Mind Reading, the Early Intervention Theory and other support interventions, and proposed the implication
s of these interventions in the areas of educational placements, pedagogic strategies and additional supports. The author aims to attract more attention to the area.
