Abstract
—Massive and learner-centered open learning has become a major trend in distance education and industrial training programs. Most learners prefer to start learning at any time and location. In this paper, we propose a pipe model to help design flexible online curricula that optimize the allocation of resources for massive-scale open learning. The notions of a linear course and serialized curriculum are defined and applied to facilitate the implementation of the pipe model. The goal of this study was to support just-in-time online learning.
